Do I need any formal training to handle my business finances?
A basic knowledge of accounting, even learned from a book or website should be enough to get you started, but you'll probably only be able to go so far before you need to enlist help. Using some of the accounting software available will be a big help and should be considered an essential purchase - most of them are easy to use and will actually help you make sure that you're covering all bases. Just remember though - they don't replace the need for an accountant completely.
